Congratulations to Mrs. Ashley Walker our new Program Director. Ashley who hails from Bracey, VA. will be assuming duties on February 1, 2010. She will be planning the Summer Day Care program that will commence when school closes for the summer. More information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Our "school age program" is ready to hire summer camp aides
and teachers. They
must meet Virginia daycare licensing requirements:
Lead Teacher: at least 21years old, bachelors degree in a child related field
with one year experience, or equivalent;
Assistant: 18 years of age or older, high school graduate with two years
experience preferred;
Aide: experience working with children preferred.

Make Your Own Fun-Lava Lamp
For this experiment you'll need:
Water, vegetable oil, food coloring, and a
clear glass or plastic cup.
Instructions:
1. Fill the cup 3/4 of the way with water.
2. Pour in a 1/4 cup of vegetable oil into the
water.

3. Put in a few drops of food coloring in the
cup.

SESSION 1:

“Healthy me, Healthy you” Led by Jessie Ruff & Anne Switzer – This camp will teach children how to live a healthy lifestyle by eating right, exercising, menu planning, learning how to deal with stress, and learning how to protect oneself in the case of an emergency. |
SESSION 2:
June 28 to July 9, 2010 |

“Summer Splash” Led by Leonard Elam – This camp will teach children to explore different things which may include science, engineering, technology, and pre-vet skills. |
SESSION 3:
July 12 to July 23, 2010 |
|
“Lake Fest Extravaganza” – This camp will include different arts and crafts along with hot air balloon activities that will help celebrate some of Clarksville’s traditions. Children will also have the chance to create their own unique pieces of artwork. |
SESSION 4:
July 26 to August 6, 2010 |
|
“Sports Slam” – This camp will get the kids moving more with the help of local high school students. Soccer skills and other activities will be taught. |
SESSION 5:
August 9 to August 20, 2010 |
|
“H2O Olympics” – This camp will be a bundle of water fun and excitement. Water balloons tosses, sprinkles, water experiments, and more will cool the kids off before summer is over. ** Please Note: Children WILL NOT be swimming at all during this camp. |
SESSION 6:
August 23 to September 3, 2010 |
|
“Summer Blowout” – This camp is going to be a blast! Say farewell to summer with arts, crafts, games, movies, and more. |

Game Center Time - Age appropriate games and manipulatives will be available for individual and group play with adult supervision, interaction, and reinforcement. |

Snack time for children. Snacks offered will be nutritional and safe with concern for healthy foods. Snacks will include a drink and apples, raisins, crackers, and trail mix.
Homework or Reading Time - Adults will be available to help with homework. Students will be encouraged to bring a book to read when homework is completed. We will endeavor to provide Quiet Time for children to rest from the school activities of the day. |

Organized Group Games and Playground Time - The soccer field will be available for outside games (weather permitting) such as soccer, dodgeball, etc. Activities will be organized, planned and all children are encouraged to participate. During bad incliment weather children will use the Activity Center that will be shared with YMCA activities. |

Music, Centers and Pick-up Time - Music will be part of each days activities with opportunities to sing, play instruments, and dance. The Art Center and Game Center will be available during this time. It is proposed that instrument ,piano, dance, guitar, and soccer lessons be offered during the After School Program. Additional fees for these lessons will be required. |
