| Holiday Care |
Holiday Care would offer a 10 hour day care for school age students on school holidays. The expanded Before and After School
Program on these days would be based on a theme either for one day (i.e. Teachers's Workday) or for a number of days (Christmas
Holidays). The theme for such a day or days could be for example; The Occoneechee Indians (our historical local native indian tribe).
Using the computer and other resources library, students would do research on the their way of life and customs. The students would be
divided into groups to work on one area of Indian Life, such as; diet and food preparation, trading, farming methods, clothing, fabrics
and dyes. Guest speakers from Occoneechee State Park would be invited to speak and reinforce classroom activities. The Arts and
Crafts Center would include materials to make Indian artifacts to take home, such as; pottery, weaving items, and others. |
| Summer Camp |
During Summer Camp each week would be based on a single Theme. (more on Themes later) Campers will be able to sign up week
by week or for the whole summer, as long as space is available. All campers will be required to pay a registration fee. The Summer
Camp Program would be setup to include opportunities for campers to participate in Verizon Center programs with the individual
program cost of $50.00 included in the Summer Camp weekly fee of $100.00. In addition to those classes there will be two week
sign-up opportunities for soccer camp, cheerleading camp, swimming lessons, photography camp, robotics camp, and a drama camp.
Music
provided might include Indian songs and chants and Indian inspired music. We would hope to be able to provide native indian instruments
as well. Outside games would include games enjoyed by native indians many centuries ago when they lived in the Clarksville vicinity. If Transportation is available we could continue activities with a field trip to Occoneechee State Park. |
